My occupation all of my adult life has been in
the travel industry. The early years in that industry led my wife and I from our home in Champaign, Illinois to Kansas City, Missouri; Chicago, Illinois; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and finally back to Champaign, where we spent most our adult life rearing our four children. In 1990, after rearing our family, I entered into management with a nationwide travel company and we moved from our home in Illinois to upstate New York.
In June of 1992 I received a promotion and the opportunity to move to
the Dallas area. My wife and I were very happy to be here, but it was not long before I felt certain that God had brought us to this area for something other than the job I was in. That feeling was confirmed, when, in September 1995
my employment was terminated. I began to pray for God's leadership. And I called for the prayers and counsel of some Godly
Christian friends.
In February 1996, I attended an informational session presented by Dallas Baptist University, pertaining to the Adult classes available at the college. I remembered a conversation I had a year earlier with my two brothers about marriage counseling. I began to consider this possibility as God's leading. However, having been out of a job at that time for five months, I didn't see anyway that I could consider schooling.
As the weeks passed, I felt more and more the leading of the Holy Spirit to trust Him and return to school to become a counselor. In March, I enrolled at Dallas Baptist University and
I completed my graduate courses in May of 1998. I completed my post-graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in May of 2001 with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master of Arts in Christian Education.
I completed the State of Texas requirements for licensure in February
2006 and received my license certificate in March 2006.
After completion of my studies at Southwestern, I joined the staff at a
church in Lewisville as Pastor of Christian Life Development, a position
I served in for over two years. However, God reaffirmed my calling into
counseling and in late summer 2003, I resigned from the church and
became affiliated with a Christian based counseling center in Flower Mound
where I learn the application of Biblical counseling. In the fall of
2006, I began a private practice and
located my office in Southlake, where I
conduct all my face to face counseling.
My wife Marlene and I were married August 9, 1959. We have four wonderful children, all married with their own families. We are also blessed with fourteen beautiful grandchildren, ranging from age
six to twenty-four.
In addition to conducting individual and
group counseling in my office in Southlake
and Lewisville,
I have served in
numerous other venues. I have spoken to various men's groups about
sexual issues. I have served as a counselor at New Life Ministry's Every
Man's Battle workshops and moderator for Every Man's Battle online chat
room. I have also served as a facilitator for Healing is a Choice
workshops through New Life Ministry, and have served by answering email
counseling questions through New Life.
I first gave my heart to the Lord at the age of seven. And although I have not always been faithful to Him, He has
always been faithful to me. I have never felt closer to the Lord than since that time in March 1996, when I said yes to God's calling for my life. Although I do not feel worthy of the task, I marvel that God would choose me to do it. I lean on Matthew 19:26
"With man it is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
